Oh I love the go-get-em attitude of todays youth

Kiley wants to broaden her chore list so we agree that if she takes the garbage cans up the driveway to the curb then she’ll get two dollars. Garbage morning comes around and I remind her that she is running out of time and if she wants to take the garbage up for her allowance that she’ll need to get a move on. I’m informed that she doesn’t know how, to which I reply, “you roll them up the hill,” “but we have four cans,” “yea, you make more than one trip!” Exit house. The sloth like movements of todays youth eventually results in Sean doing it anyway because she hadn’t even managed to get the garage door open in the five minutes she’d been in the garage!! Oh tweens!

are key! Brady LOVES this new littler series by Sara Gillingham and Lorena Siminovich; “In My Nest.” “In My Pond,” “In My Tree,” and “In my Den.” SO adorable. They have a little finger puppet built-in and Brady just adores them! You’ve got to check out the books!

I think it is a proven fact, that as a new mommy, just about 10 months, you pack on a few extra pounds. Not that the past 10 while your body is attempting to morf back into a shadow of its old self weren’t fun … you get a few more to lose!

PS … breastfeeding DOES NOT drop all your baby weight THose who say that are full of it! Or, just really lucky!!

brady and his puppy

Dad’s are excellent babysitters … but they tend to lack the the natural mothering instinct, like, when the kiddo might fall asleep, hence needing the before bed time diaper change?

My hubby lovingly watched my son (recovering from Croup) so I could go to the gym. I got home and baby was sleeping soundly on the couch with his little puppy (insert). About 20 minutes later he woke up so I attempted to rock him back to sleep on the couch only to realize his entire side was wet … must be water I thought? Nope. Must be potty … NOPE … blow out – super! Now my poor kid has a massive diaper rash on top of it all poor kid!

Oh happy start to another week. Started the day by being barfed on at 6am, mixed in with a little poop … Super sympathetic hubby woke (after a full nights sleep) to tell me how loud and annoying I am … Sent semi-sick 11-year-old with super pouty face to school, am anticipating phone call shortly, am now going on an hour sitting in the car with sleeping infant waiting for costco to open its doors for what I am sure to be a fun filled shopping spree with sick, coughing infant!!

Sick boy

Speaking of – I feel we’ve returned to the 0-3 month stage – I haven’t been this dirty in 7 months! We’re on the third round of him throwing up all over both of us – I haven’t been this dirty in months but I also haven’t been this clean I’m up to about three showers a day! Last night was the worst – I was rocking him back to sleep at 2am and up it came, all over the both of us. We had to take a late night shower and I had to do an ENTIRE load of laundry. Croup stinks!!!

Will he sleep, or will I look into the monitor to find my son has pulled himself up on the side of the crib and screaming, at the top of his lungs, into the monitor … Mommy 6 Baby 4 … (ish we’ve had many more go arounds than that but I’d say we’re 4:2) Yesterday, I won BOTH nap smackdowns AND bedtime … I think he was tricking me, or it was my early mother’s day present

I’m home still, love it, love my son … hate the winter and the slight onset of mommy boredom - must find adult interaction! I love my family, but if I don’t have some face time with another adult I may go, crazy, an 8-month old who doesn’t talk, an 11-year-old who leaves a trail of stuff behind her like she’s Grettle and my lovely husband is NOT sufficient! WILL LOOSE MIND … MUST MEET OTHER MOMMY’s!!

On another note … what’s up with 8 months … besides my weight!!!!!! Hence, 8 month slump! Argh! I’m sure it slightly, if not directly, related to my need for adult contact, but it still sucks! Now the weather has turned and no more running so today I created my own workout, utilizing my child, in my living room … not too bad! I’m not sure if it actually did anything, but it felt good. Now, to just keep it up, otherwise I’ll be going back into my belly bands

Argh … The last time we flew a woman got behind us in the security line and when she saw us remarked to her friend “oh great, I’m in the baby line.” I wanted to say “oh great, we’re in the ugly line.” Plane rides we automatically receive the annoyed and irritated glances – these people are thinking, oh great, I have a baby sitting next to me. Babies are babies and sometimes there is nothing you can do, but I’d like to note that my five month old has now flown 4 times and each the surrounding passengers have commented that they didn’t even realize we had a baby with us. THANK YOU! It is A LOT of work, but you can do a lot to keep your child content on the flight. I’m starting to believe a few have ruined it for the rest of us. I even remember my honeymoon flight, a family of four boarded our flight both children sitting in front of us, the mother proceeded to give both children a freakin coke!?!? Serious!?!? It was not caffeine free! However, the child less people remember the brat that kicked their seat and screamed, not the kid that was well behaved and silent. I’ve actually had people suggest to me that there should be a ‘family’ section on airplanes. What! Rude! Well, then I think there should be a ‘smells bad guy’ section, or a ‘I barely fit my seat section’ or I talk loudly on my cell prior to take off section,’ how about ‘rude business man’ section? I can’t wait until those people have babies and have to deal with it!

Teething

is rough! Woah! Poor little guy. We’d been in, what I’m calling ‘pre-teething’ phase where there is LOTS of drool and a little bit of pain … last night poor Brady hit FULL teething mode. TONS of pain, I had to even give him Tylenol twice (once before bed and once again in the middle of the night). He cried so much that he actually is horse now

On another note – he turned 5 months this past Saturday. He’s growing like crazy! Sits up on his own now and is talking like a crazy man!!!! I love it!
